Rosita, originally from Sri Lanka now lives in Vancouver, Canada. Her enthusiasm and interest to art started as a child when she continuously drew and coloured with crayons and water colours, winning several Art prizes in school and open art competitions. She loves to try out new mediums but her drawings and style of painting are mostly realistic done with oils, acrylics, pastels, pencils and charcoal. She paints on a variety of subjects and most of her paintings reveals her love to wild life and nature. Her goal is to connect the viewer to the beauty of nature and discovering the world through her art. She strongly advocates the conservation movement and supports the threatened and endangered species. Her travels to many countries gives her a taste for trying new compositions and capturing the expression of the moment and the beauty which evokes an impression of the setting. Rosita believes that Art is a calling and is a form of creative process to communicate and connect to others – the need that draws us together as species. She calls herself a self-taught artist and always learning to improve.
She is a supporting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, member of the Langley Arts Council, Artswest & Surrey Art Gallery and studying Fine Arts at Emily Carr University
Rosita works fulltime and volunteers during her spare time as a Children’s Art Program Assistant at the Surrey Arts Gallery & GPA
